Rezvani Beast X is 700hp of Californian insanity

Remember the Rezvani Beast? Well, now the Californian manufacturer has announced a souped-up variation with serious horsepower.

The Rezvani Beast X’s 2.4-litre petrol has undergone some major fettling, including the addition of two Borg Warner turbochargers, forged pistons and valves and strengthened engine internals to cope with the power increase.

So how much oomph are we talking? Think 700hp – an increase of 200hp on the standard Beast. 0-60mph is said to take around 2.5 seconds and the top speed is probably as hair-raising.

Those beefy turbos and engine modifications have, sadly. increased the weight as the Beast X weighs 839kg – a noticeable increase on the V8 Beast 500, which tipped the scales at 704kg. But it’s still half the weight of a Porsche 918 Spyder.

The chassis is made from lightweight carbon fibre and ultra-strong steel, while power is sent to the rear wheels. No doubt, then, this car will be a bit of a handful.

Other revisions to the Beast X include improved downforce created by unique side wings, a revised front and rear fascia for ‘a more menacing profile’ and dual carbon fibre rear wings to reduce the drag coefficient and improve cornering ability.

Such is life, there must be a catch and you can probably guess what it is. Rezvani wants a cool US$325,000, making it way out of the reach for most petrolheads and almost double the standard Beast.

At least you won’t see many on the road because just five are being built.
