The Lamborghini Miura is 50 years old, so the Italian purveyor of four-wheeled insanity has released a special edition Aventador to celebrate.
The Miura-inspired Aventador was handed over to its ‘Ad Personam’ customisation team to make it a bit special. And the result is six classic Miura paintjobs, including Verde Scandal and Blu Tahiti, that contrast with the lower part of the car.
Not only that, a metallic Miura badge has been slapped on the side and back to let other road users know this is an especially rare Aventador, plus you get a custom leather interior with Miura stitching, more carbon fibre than usual and 20/21 inch Dione alloys in either matt gold or silver.
The engine is unchanged, which would be an issue were it not for the fact it had a 6.5-litre V12 with 700bhp, 690NM of torque, 217mph top speed, all-wheel drive and a 0-62mph time of just 2.9 seconds. Okay, if we had to nitpick it would be at the lack of the more powerful SV option, but life goes on.
Apparently most of the 50 cars allocated to planet earth have been sold and an official price is unknown. Best check it out at the Goodwood Festival of Speed to see if you like it and then post a really big cheque to Lamborghini.
The original Miura was produced between 1966 and 1973 and is said to be the father of mid-engined sports cars. At the time it was the fastest production road car money could buy and these days they go for around a £1million ─ probably more now that a few of the 764 built have come to a fiery end.
As cars go, the Miura is one of the best looking and it has stood the test of time marvellously. We would urge you, then, to watch a video documentary about a guy who waited a decade to buy one. Trust us, you will enjoy it.
