The Abarth 595 Yamaha Factory Racing Edition is here

Abarth is celebrating being the official sponsor and car supplier of the MotoGP championship with a brand new model known as the 595 Yamaha Factory Racing Edition.

The 595 Yamaha Factory Racing Edition was created with the help of Yamaha and world championship superbike riders Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, who are on course for a one-two victory in this year’s championship.

17-inch matt black alloys, painted brake calipers and optional matching Abarth side stripes and mirror covers separate the bike-themed Abarth 595 from the usual car.

It also comes in one of seven colours and has a unique ‘Yamaha Factory Racing’ badge, flat-bottomed leather steering wheel, darkened windows and aluminium pedals as standard.

Performance modifications include a more powerful version of the 1.4-litre T-Jet petrol engine with 160hp and 230Nm of torque, a Record Monza 4 exhaust system, BMC ‘high-performance’ filter, Eibach lowering springs and Koni shock absorbers with FSD valves.

Gears are taken care of by a five-speed manual. Meanwhile optional extras include a leather interior, Xenon headlamps and dual-zone air-conditioning in case you want a tad more luxury.

0-62mph is said to take 7.4 seconds, while the top speed is 130mph. Abarth claims it will do 47.1mpg combined while puffing out 139g/km of CO2 emissions.

Abarth UK brand manager Gerry Southerington said: “The new 595 Yamaha Factory Racing Edition adds a new dimension to the Abarth 595 line-up.

“With an upgrade to 160 horsepower, lowered suspension, sporting looks and a great sounding exhaust system, we expect a lot of interest in this car from Abarth enthusiasts and new customers alike.”

The Abarth 595 Yamaha Factory Racing Edition, which is based on the Fiat 500, is available to order now, starting from £17,420.
