Mini has announced a new addition to the Clubman range. The Mini One D Clubman is aimed at frugal motorists and fleet types who want cheap motoring.
The new Mini One D Clubman features a 116hp three-cylinder Mini TwinPower Turbo diesel, which offers 99g/km of CO2 with the manual fitted so it’s free to tax. Fuel economy is said to be 74.3mpg or 72.4mpg with the optional six-speed Steptronic automatic.
Mini has managed to eke out a modicum of performance from the diesel engine. 0-62mph takes 10.4 seconds, while torque is a hefty 270Nm from 1,750rpm so overtaking should be feasible. It can even go 119mph, if you find a road long enough.
Being 270mm longer and 73mm wider than the Mini Hatch helps the new Clubman accommodate five passengers and 360 litres of boot space with the rear seats in place or 1,250 if you fold them down.
Standard equipment on the Mini One D Clubman mirrors that of other models in the range so you can expect 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, front fog lights, automatic lights and wipers, Mini Excitement pack, DAB digital radio, manual air conditioning, navigation and a leather steering wheel.
Optional extras include park distance control, automatic air conditioning, LED headlights, LED fog lights and leather upholstery, all of which come a part of Mini’s £2,785 Chilli pack (21 per cent cheaper than if you bought all the extras separately).
Prices start from £21,375 for the Mini One D Clubman manual and £22,815 for the automatic. Rental options are available for business customers, with monthly rates starting from £179.
