Sweaty passengers, overpriced tickets, running late – the average train journey is a painful experience for many. Unless, of course, you are rich enough to afford a trip on the forthcoming Cruise train.
The Cruise train is the work of JR East railways and Ferrari designer Ken Okuyama, the talented chap who helped oversee the Ferrari Enzo and Ferrari P4/P5 as well as the Honda NSX and Porsche Boxster.
You could easily accuse the Cruise of being a hotel on tracks. It is designed to house just 34 passengers in complete luxury across ten spacious carriages. Think expensive furniture, a proper bed and enviably stylish surroundings. It even has a two-storey luxury suite for those who really want to splash out.
The select few who can afford around £1,500 for two nights will have access to a restaurant, bar, lounge and predominantly glass observation area, just in case you feel to need to venture out of your luxury room.
The Cruise train, which is estimated to cost £30million to build, is a year away from construction. It should be up and running in some form in 2017 on either an electric or non-electric rail system. Check out the pictures below and wish your train journey was half as a comfortable.
