TomTom bolsters satnav range with 42, 52 and 62 Start Series

Navigation specialist TomTom has announced three new devices that aim to help you avoid being caught out by average speed cameras.

The new TomTom Start 42, 52 and 62 Series satnavs can track your speed within an average speed limit zone, helping you keep within the law of those pesky SPECS and VECTOR cameras. Or you can just set your cruise control to 50mph and relax.

The feature was added after TomTom recorded a 95 per cent increase in the number of average speed zones in the UK, rising from 167 zones in 2013 to 325 today.

The TomTom Start 42, 52 and 62 Series satnavs come with a 4.3-inch, 5-inch and 6-inch display, respectively, and ‘Lifetime Maps’ so you can update your maps of Europe four times a year at no extra charge.

The TomTom Start 42, 52 and 62 satnavs also feature Advanced Lane Guidance so there’s less chance of being in the wrong lane and unable to move over. Meanwhile a ‘slim and stylish’ design and an integrated mount makes it easy to swap between mounting on the windshield and dashboard.

“We are constantly striving to make more accurate maps, deliver faster and more detailed traffic information, and create smarter routing. This combination is what makes the TomTom driving experience so unique,” TomTom Consumer co-founder and managing director Corinne Vigreux said.

“Listening to our customers, we understand the responsibility we have as the most trusted companion to drivers, and with the new TomTom Start series, we’re once again honouring that trust and confidence,” she added.

A TomTom Start satnav will set you back from £109.99 and that includes maps of 45 countries in Europe. The Start 42 and 52 are available now from various retailers including Argos, Amazon, Dixons and Halfords, while the Start 62 will go on sale from July 2016.
