If you’ve ever missed a turning because you struggled to make out the instructions on your tiny sat nav, then you’re in for a treat. TomTom has released its biggest navigation system to date in the form of the TomTom Start 60.
This ginormous navigation device packs a 6-inch display — the largest ever seen on a TomTom sat-nav, or any other after-market GPS we’ve encountered for that matter. The system, which gives factory-fitted systems a run for their money, should help ensure instructions are displayed more prominently than ever, and its ability to display larger icons should mean it’s easier to use on the move (by a passenger, obviously) and while stationary.
The TomTom Start 60 can be mounted on the windscreen. However, because there’s a danger it could actually obstrut your view in some vehicles, its dual-mounting system also allows it to be mounted to the dashboard.
Like all TomToms, the Start 60 will be packed with features including Advanced lane guidance, which makes it clear what lane you’re supposed to be in to navigate the next junction; IQ routes to give you a more realistic idea of your arrival time; Map Share, which lets you manually alter out of date maps and share them with the TomTom community; and spoken street names.
The TomTom Start 60 is available to buy now for £169.99 and comes pre-loaded with maps of 45 countries in Europe.
