Watch five BMW M235i Coupes go sideways in Cape Town

Start your day with a generous serving of the BMW M235i, five of which can be seen going very sideways as part of a stunt uploaded to YouTube.

‘Epic Driftmob featuring BMW M235i’ was created by BMW US to showcase the fun you can expect from the 321bhp rear-wheel drive machine, which replaces the 1 Series Coupe. Five red cars drifting around a closed roundabout in Cape Town, South Africa. Burning rubber. You get the idea.

BMW says in the video description “all these driving scenes are real”, adding that it “had to block the road” for safety reasons. One of the guys behind The Fast and the Furious shot the whole film.

Hollywood stunt drivers provide the synchronised display of drifting goodness, which was watched by spectators unaware of what was about to unfold.

The BMW M235i sits somewhere between a proper M division car like the M3 and M4 and a standard Bimmer. Real ‘M’ or not, the 3.0-litre gives it a 0 to 62mph time of 4.8 seconds – 0.6 seconds behind the M4. No slouch, then.

BMW has been churning out some YouTube gold in recent times. The M4 drifting on an aircraft carrier springs to mind.

The M235i video has only been up a couple of days and already it has been viewed more than 1.2 million times, proving that irresponsible driving is much more exciting to watch. Obviously try this at home at your peril, folks.
