Mercedes-AMG has announced the C-Class Coupé C63 is ‘coming closer and closer’ by releasing an official video of it in action on YouTube.
The short but sweet video shows the new C-Class Coupé in its C63 form tearing up a track and massaging people’s ears with what is expected to be a twin-turbocharged V8 engine, likely with a choice of either 469 or 503hp ‘S’ power outputs like in the Saloon.
Given the new C-Class Coupé is lighter than the Saloon, it’s likely to be even faster, with a seven-speed AMG Speedshift transmission tearing through the gears in lightning fashion. Expect an improvement on the Saloon’s 0-62mph sprint of 3.9 seconds, especially if AMG does a spot of weight removal.
Although unclear how different the AMG version will be compared with its standard siblings, we know the new C-Class is 95mm longer, 45mm wider and 15mm lower than its predecessor and has a much curvier design.
In terms of price, the C63 Saloon starts from £59,795 and £66,545 for the C63 S and the estate is £60,995 and £67,745 for the C63 and C63 S, respectively. The Coupé is likely to sit somewhere between.
Mercedes will be debuting the C63 Coupé on the 19th of August and no doubt again at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, which means the wait for all the details will be as short as the video.
