You need to see the Lamborghini Aventador Super Veloce Roadster

We think you should probably sit down for this. Lamborghini has released images of the Aventador Super Veloce Roadster, a drop-top so utterly bonkers and pretty you might cry.

The Aventador SV Roadster is basically the same as the Aventador SV except, of course, it has no roof. Instead you get a carbon fibre hardtop you have to remove manually using two quick-release panels, each weighing less than 6kg.

A button on the dashboard, meanwhile, raises a rear windshield to keep your hairdo pristine (or your few remaining hairs attached).

By using lightweight carbon fibre and a few other tricks, the SV Roadster is only 50kg more than the coupe, at a total of 1,575kg. That means 0-62mph comes and goes in 2.9 seconds, a whole tenth of a second slower. Not sure how we will cope with that significant loss of performance, to be honest.

That mind-bending speed is down to the same 6.5-litre V12 with a whopping 740bhp at 8,400rpm so this is about as fast as cars get without having drag wheels, a rollcage and special fuel. Top speed is the same 217mph, which is more than adequate when the roof is down.

Matt black is standard for the paintjob, because secretly Lamborghini knows we all secretly want a Batmobile, but you can also go for matt carbon fibre or the Blu Le Mans pictured if you prefer.

As you would expect from a Lamborghini convertible, the price is eye-watering. At 28,000 more than the coupe, this Italian monster comes in at £350,000 before any extras.

Just 500 will be built – 100 less than the production run of the coupe – and once they are gone, that’s it. You know you want one. UK deliveries are expected in the spring of 2016.

Those who need a bit more convincining to sell their house and any unwanted relations should know the coupe lapped the Nürburgring a mere two seconds slower than the Porsche 918 Spyder, a car that costs more twice as much and has approaching 900bhp.
