Younger drivers are most likely to be distracted by the sight of good-looking pedestrian, according to a new study.
The RAC questioned 6,500 people from across the continent and found those aged between 16 and 24 were most likely to have a cheeky glance at aesthetically pleasing pedestrians.
The same study revealed the same age bracket are easily distracted generally, with 43 per cent admitting they have sent a text while driving. 11 per cent went as far as to watch a video, which is rather worring when driving experience tends to be lower for this age bracket.
On the subject of passenger types, 41 per cent said they would be prepared to take more risks if a friend is with them, while 57 per cent said their driving ability improved when accompanied by a parent or grandparent.
The RAC released the data in light of the rise of Pokemon Go, which has been attributed to various crashes across Britain (one of which was later debunked) and subsequently ended up with various police forces issuing safety warnings.
Echoing the sentiment of police, RAC road safety spokesperson Pete Williams said Pokemon Go should remain a “no-go” when driving and warned the game could lead to a surge in illegal use of handheld mobile phones behind the wheel.
