GeForce GTX BattleBox Ultimate and Essential: What are they and what’s the difference?

Nvidia’s new GeForce GTX BattleBox rigs are powerfully specced gaming machines that guarantee solid enough performance for today’s biggest titles. So what is a BattleBox and how do the BattleBox Ultimate and BattleBox Essential compare?

If you’re looking to find your next perfect gaming computer, but you’re overwhelmed by the sheer choice on offer, Nvidia’s latest idea might prove your salvation.

What is the Nvidia GeForce BattleBox?

The GeForce GTX BattleBox is an all-new gaming rig, or rather two new rigs, which are powerful enough to run the latest games with ease. With Nvidia’s branding on them, you can rest assured that you’ll have a super-charged machine that gives you a serious advantage in those online fragfests. All packed inside a typically subtle (ahem) casing.

GeForce BattleBox Essential vs BattleBox Ultimate

First up you have the BattleBox Essential. This offers a minimum Core i5 chipset (or AMD Ryzen 5) and 8GB of RAM, plus a GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card. That’ll get you gaming with 1080p visuals at a super-smooth 60 frames-per-second. DirectX 12 support comes as standard.

If your wallet is properly stacked then you might want to upgrade to a BattleBox Ultimate instead. The more premium BattleBox rig bumps up the specs to a Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 7 chipset, this time with 16GB of RAM to back it up. The GeForce GTX 1080Ti delivers up to 4K resolution visuals, not to mention full VR support for unbeatable immersion in your games.

Check out the table below for a direct comparison of the two BattleBox rigs. Note that these specs are all minimum recommended in order to classify as a BattleBox rig – therefore you could feasibly get even better specs, depending on the retailer and machine you choose.
