BlackBerry has announced its latest phone the BlackBerry Q20, a 3.5-inch touchscreen phone that comes with a full QWERTY keypad.
Apparently millions of BlackBerry fans got in touch with the struggling company to profess their love for typing on physical keys.
BlackBerry listened and has delivered a phone which retains many of the classic BlackBerry features including a trackpad, plus hard keys for menu, back, send and end.
John Chen, Executive Chairman and CEO at BlackBerry said that on the first 90 days on the job he’d heard constant feedback from customers saying they wanted something more akin to the old school BlackBerry experience instead of the all-touch interface of the BlackBerry Z10.
Speaking at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Chen said: “I want these customers to know that we heard them, and this new smartphone will be for them.
“Today, we’re delighted to announce the new BlackBerry Q20 smartphone, which is designed to give you the distinct experience that every BlackBerry QWERTY loyalist and high-productivity business customer absolutely loves.”
Along with the best email and keyboard experience, Chen boasted that the Q20 will offer the best battery life possible.
A full spec sheet detailing essential things such as battery size, talk time and standby time isn’t currently available so we’ll have to take Chen at his word.
What we do know about the Q20, besides the fact that it’ll have a keyboard, is that it will offer BlackBerry Balance to business users, letting you divide your work and your personal life more neatly.
We don’t have a price or a solid UK release date for this yet and we don’t even have any pictures yet – the image above is a close up of the BlackBerry Q5’s keyboard. The BlackBerry Q20 is due to be released at some point during the second half of 2014.
