If you’re a budget and want cheap LTE data, then EE’s PAYG tariffs should do the job. But the company is lowering the barrier to entry for standard monthly contracts too. Starting from the end of the month, EE will split its tariffs into two categories: standard, and Extra.
EE’s standard tariffs will now start from £19 a month, although you’ll only get 500MB of data. The monthly cost will rise too depending on the handset you choose, and speeds will max out at 30Mbit/s.
The Extra tariffs, meanwhile, will dangle the promise of more data, as well as faster speeds in general. The base offering – which costs £27 a month – comes with 4GB of data, and allows people to theoretically reach speeds of up to 150Mbit/s. EE has 10GB and 20GB plans too, plus a new 50GB plan that costs £75 a month. All the Extra tariffs come with unlimited minutes and texts.
Extra plans will come with roaming benefits as well. Anyone with Extra will be able to use their included minutes and texts in 30 countries around the world – including the United States and Australia – without any additional charge. That doesn’t apply to data, however.
EE’s new tariffs will go into effect on October 30th, and come with all the standard added value benefits, including 2 for 1 cinema tickets on Wednesdays and Deezer music streaming.
