Sony Xperia Z5 Compact price drops as iPhone SE hits stores

You can now pick up the best mini Android phone, the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact, for just £300 SIM-free or from a measly £13.59 a month. But could this impressive deal be good enough to sway potential iPhone SE buyers?

Apple’s all-new 4-inch blower, the iPhone SE, has just gone on sale here in the UK, but GiffGaff is hoping to sway people to Android’s bosom instead by offering the almost-as-dinky Sony Xperia Z5 Compact at a serious discount.

From today until the end of April, you can pick up the Xperia Z5 Compact for just £299 SIM-free. That’s a serious chunk cheaper than the iPhone SE, which starts from £359 SIM-free. You can alternatively snap up the Z5 Compact on contract, for just £13.59 a month. On top of that you’ll need to purchase one of GiffGaff’s ‘Goodybags’ of course, which gives you minutes, texts and data to spend.

We’re massive fans of the Z5 Compact, as you’ll know if you’ve read our recent three-month long-term review. Like the iPhone SE, you get some seriously premium features such as Sony’s excellent 23-megapixel camera and a gorgeous 720p screen packed into a tiny frame that’s comfortable to handle. If you’re after a compact mobile that can hold its own against the mighty 5-inch-plus flagships, then you can’t go wrong.
