The latest quad-core HTC Desire 310 packs plenty of power and popular HTC features at a potentially great entry-level price
To keep us sated before the launch of the mighty new HTC One later this month, HTC has revealed several new Desire handsets in the past week. We kicked off with the mid-range quad-core delights of the Desire 610 and Desire 816, which cram in a ton of great HTC features at a wallet-friendly price. Still too skint for those? Good news: the new HTC Desire 310 has just been unveiled, and it’s another quad-core device that boasts some trouser-rubbingly good specs, at an entry-level price.
A quick glance at the HTC Desire 310 reveals a typical, stripped-down and basic HTC budget design. The black model on show here is not entirely exciting, but apparently the smartphone will come in a range of colours on release next month. At 140g it’s nicely weighted, and also a bit chunky at 11.25mm.
The 4.5-inch screen packs a 854×480 pixel resolution, which should produce pleasingly crisp visuals considering this is a budget phone. Android 4.2 Jelly Bean has been given the usual HTC spruce-up with a Sense interface, featuring the BlinkFeed news and social media aggregator, and hopefully it should all run smoothly with the 1.3GHz quad-core processor.
Other specs include a 5-megapixel camera that records in Full HD 1080p, a front-facing VGA camera, 4GB of storage (expandable via microSD) and a 2,000mAh battery.
Although the Desire 310’s cost hasn’t been confirmed by HTC, it’s described as an ‘entry-level’ phone and we’ve heard rumours of a €169 price tag. That puts it in the firing line of the Motorola Moto G, which sports similar specs but wins out in a few areas such as screen sharpness. The Moto G also already supports Android KitKat.
