An innovative new service has launched in London today, allowing people to have their cracked iOS and Samsung devices fixed on-site.
iCracked, a company which started in California’s Silicon Valley, has a team of technicians who will travel to your work, home, or a local coffee shop and repair cracked screens for you, breathing new life into old/damaged devices while you wait.
The company has been active in the US for two years and has seen over 100,000 devices restored to their former glory, and there are already 30 technicians (dubbed ‘iTechs’) on its London team operating out of its new Shoreditch-based offices.
According to Opinium Research, commissioned by iCracked, 31% of Brits have damaged or broken a mobile phone, which equates to over 15 million dead and unusable devices going into recycling or landfill.
A.J. Forsythe, co-founder of iCracked said “For most people, their phones are an extension of themselves, so when it breaks it can have a huge impact on their everyday lives. I’ve dropped my smartphone more times than I can remember and understand the strain a damaged device can cause on modern life; I’m determined to bring the iCracked service to as many people as possible in the UK. With trained iTechs on the streets of London capable of repairing iPhones in minutes, no longer will damaging a smartphone spell the end of a night out, or separate people with their loved ones (and their emails) for days on end.”
As well as fixing damaged iOS devices, the US arm of iCracked also offers a buy back service for old phones, something that could well launch in the UK next year if the initial service is as successful as the company hopes it will be. In the meantime, if you’re in the Capital and have a broken iPhone – or one of four Samsung devices, including the Galaxy S5, you can now enjoy a cappuccino while your device is being repaired.
Seems like a smart new way to offer a service that based on what we see on London streets is in high demand, particularly amongst iPhone users.
