Apple loves numbers. Nokia loves numbers too:
- 8.8 million Lumia Windows Phones were sold during Nokia’s third financial quarter. That’s a huge increase from the 2.9 million the company sold during the same period last year.
- Sales in the United States are much healthier. Nokia shipped 1.4 million phones in total, a big jump from the 500,000 it shipped last quarter.
- Generated revenue was €5.66 billion, with a net profit of €118 million – a surprisingly respectable result.
- The average selling price for Nokia’s handsets is €143. That sounds low, but it makes sense when you take Nokia’s recent strategy into account: it’s all about the budget and entry-level smartphones.
- All in all, Nokia has sold 36.1 million Lumias since 2011. For comparison, Apple sold 33.8 million iPhones during the last quarter alone.
