Samsung Galaxy S7 Active: In A Nutshell

Pictures and details of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active have already leaked, so here’s what to expect from this tough remake of the Galaxy S7 smartphone, including specs, how it compares to the original S7 and the UK price and release date.

What is the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active?

The Galaxy S7 Active is a more rugged version of Samsung’s Galaxy S7 flagship phone, due to launch in summer 2016. The Active model should boast most of the Galaxy S7’s premium features, but the design will be much tougher, able to withstand shock impact as well as submerging in water (a feature already found on the original S7). This rugged design makes the Galaxy S7 Active better suited to anyone with an active lifestyle.

What are the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active’s specs?

So far the Galaxy S7 Active hasn’t been officially launched by Samsung, but some of the phone’s specs have already leaked online.

The S7 Active should pack a 5.5-inch Quad HD screen, making it the same size as the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. A Snapdragon 820 processor should offer the same smooth performance, and there’s a 12-megapixel camera on the back (presumably the same camera as the S7 and S7 Edge snapper).

Of course, the Galaxy S7 Active’s design is different to the original S7 too, with a chunkier, hardier frame and physical back and menu buttons beneath the screen.

What is the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active’s UK price and release date?

So far there’s no word on a UK release date for the Galaxy S7 Active, but some of the previous Active handsets made it to British shores so hopefully we’ll get the S7 Active this summer. Pricing is usually similar to Samsung’s flagship phones, so expect to pay around £549 SIM-free.
