Saygus’ V2 ‘super smartphone’ packs up to 320GB of storage at CES 2015

It’s not often you get to use the word ‘overkill’ when speaking about smartphones, but the Saygus V2 is a device that merits the term.

The V2 (pronounced V-squared) which was unveiled at CES yesterday, appears to be the result of some tech obsessed folks setting out to design a device which would win in a game of smartphone Top Trumps. They’ve thrown in everything they can think of – and more to boot.

The device sports a 5-inch 1080p Full HD screen and while its looks are pretty average, its guts are anything but. Saygus chose to power the phone with a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor, and added 3GB RAM too, which makes the Android 4.4.4 OS chip along at a pretty rapid rate. Dig a little deeper and you’ll find 64GB of internal memory and two – yes two – micro SDXC slots, giving you the option of upping to a combined 320GB of storage.

The V2 also offers up a 21-megapixel primary camera with optical image stabilisation and a notable 13-megapixel front-facer, which should take some pretty decent selfies. On top of all of this, the device also sports Harman Kardon speakers which are set up for a ‘3D audio experience’, a fingerprint sensor and Qi wireless charging.

As if that isn’t enough, you’ll be pleased to know that Saygus has seen fit to waterproof the thing too, so if you feel like it, you’ll be able to sit in the tub watching season after season of your favourite TV shows with nary a care in the world.

There’s currently no word on what the V2 will cost, but according to the manufacturer it will be competitive; we’ll keep you up to date though, in case you’re after picking one of these media-centric behemoths up.
