The Sony Ericsson Vivaz pro looks very similar to the original Vivaz but features a slide-out Qwerty keypad and a 5-megapixel camera. Unlike the X10 mini and X10 mini pro, which run Android, the Vivaz pro runs Symbian S60, which seems to run smoothly on it. We found the Vivaz pro’s Qwerty keypad easy to use and think it makes for a nifty messaging phone.
Other features include a 3.2-inch touchscreen, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, FM radio and an expandable microSD card. You may have noticed that the Vivaz pro’s camera boasts less megapixels than its predecessor but it can still shoot video in HD (720p) and multiple face-recognition.
We enjoyed using the Vivaz pro but we wish there was an Android version too. As for the X10 mini and X10 mini pro, we think that Sony Ericsson could be on to something. A lot of people want a small smart phone and the X10 mini is tiny. The problem with the X10 mini range is that you do sacrifice screen space, which is why you may prefer getting a Vivaz.
All of these handsets will be available in the first half of this year. Pricing and availability have yet to be announced but we assume they will be available for free on a monthly contract. Click on the next page for more pictures and video.
