Last week we heard Sony was ready to take on the Motorola Moto G with a cut-down version of its Xperia Z1 flagship, packing the same slick design we know and love at a fraction of the cost. Well, a photo that could be said phone has emerged on Twitter, and it’s been revealed as the Sony Xperia G.
The photo shows the original Sony Xperia Z1 on top, with the new Xperia G beneath. As you can see, the two share a very similar design and are almost the same size, with the primary difference being the SIM and microSD slots swapping place.
Details of an upcoming Sony Xperia smartphone appeared on a benchmarking site last week, revealing a Snapdragon 400 processor and some other cut-down specs. They’re similar specs to the Moto G, which offers tremendous value at just £135 – and we’re really hoping this Xperia is a similar price, although we’d be surprised to see the Xperia G come in quite so low.
We might be seeing the Xperia G at MWC 2014 next week, so check back on Monday February 24 for full coverage, including hands-on impressions, of Sony’s new smartphones. And here’s our MWC 2014 rumour round-up, with all the big news and leaks.
