Is this special edition 1080p Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Premium real?

A seriously desirable souped-up version of the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact, known as the Hatsune Special Edition Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Premium, has been revealed by some Asian sites packing even better specs and an anime theme.

As with all leaks, we’re treating this one with a mound of salt, but if the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Premium is real then it’s a serious beast.

Japan may be getting this special edition remake of the already-excellent Xperia Z5 Compact in the near future, boasting specs that are pretty much identical to the full-sized Xperia Z5. For a start, that 4.6-inch screen is upgraded from 720p to Full HD 1080p for even sharper visuals. Then the 2GB of RAM has been doubled to 4GB, which should make the Xperia Z5 Compact Premium even more future-proof.

Battery size has also apparently been boosted from 2,700mAh to 2,900mAh.

The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Premium also sports a funky Hatsune Miku branding, and for anyone who isn’t familiar with the massive-haired anime character, check out this slice of Japanese randomness:

So, is the Xperia Z5 Compact Premium actually real? We’re still sceptical, but if it is indeed not fake, the chances of the phone coming to the UK is slim. Time to save up for a pricey import.
