Bentley Mulsanne Grand Limousine by Mulliner is a six-seater mouthful

Geneva Motor Show 2016: Watch out, other road users. There’s a Bentley in town that is as long as its name.

The ‘Bentley Mulsanne Grand Limousine by Mulliner’ is a bespoke version of the already sizable Mulsanne. It is 1,000mm longer and 79mm taller than its sibling and has what Bentley calls a ‘private-aviation seating configuration’ in the rear so people can sit face-to-face.

As you would expect from Bentley, which is a ruddy old and posh brand, and Mulliner, which is its ruddy old bespoke coachbuilding division, the stretch Mulsanne is about as luxury as cars get. Think four seats in sumptuous leather, iPad charging docks and veenered fold-out tables.

In case you get a bit thirsty, there’s also a bottle cooler with crystal flutes, soft drinks cabinet with bespoke tumblers (obviously), an intercom to allow passengers to speak with the driver and the extensive use of posh wood and leather throughout the cabin.

One of the greatest features is the ‘smart glass’ used on the interior and rear window. This clever bit of tech uses electrochromic glass to make a window go from clear to opaque and vice versa at the touch of a button.

Bentley has finished the Mulsanne Grand Limousine by Mulliner in a two-tone paintjob comprised Silver Frost and Moroccan Blue. Unique versions of Bentley’s chrome grille and lower bumper grilles and colour-matched 21-inch alloy wheels complete the look.

Meanwhile utmost care has been taken to ensure passenger comfort, hence a fully engineered powertrain and re-engineered chassis and suspension. So it’s not just a Mulsanne with some metal crudely welded in between.

The British company is yet to mention a price, but like with most cars of this ilk: if you have to ask, you probably can’t afford. But if you could, would you spend your money on a car quite so ostentatious?
