The Ferrari California T inspired by horse racing

Ferrari will be showing off its Tailor-Made customisation programme at the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed with a rather special version of the California T.

The customised California T takes inspiration from horses and polo (that game where you hit a ball with a mallet while wearing tweed, not the minty sweet). It features a ‘Bianco Italia’ three-layer crisp white exterior complimented by a double-asymmetric stripe in Blu Hellen.

The blue and white theme continues inside the cabin, with Blu Sterling and Bianco elements and highlights throughout the luxurious cabin. 20-inch alloy wheels painted in Blu Hellen and Argento Nurburgring, meanwhile, give it a beefier look.

Not content with the usual fabrics, Ferrari commissioned its own known as Mycro Prestige. It is said to be a ‘highly resistant’ material that offers exceptional grip so you stay in your seat and, thanks to being just 0.7mm thick, it weighs a third of traditional leather.

Not only that, the material is water resistant so you could be caught with the roof down when it rains, porous so it should be less hot and sticky in the summer and fireproof, just in case something goes very, very wrong.

Tailor-Made started off in the 1950s as a way of letting owners make their Ferrari unique to them. The process is a little more technical these days but buyers can still pick just about anything they want added to their car before they have the option it collecting it in person from Maranello.

Customisation options come in three types: Scuderia, Classica and Inedita. Scuderia uses racing-derived materials finishes and liveries inspired by Ferrari’s racing heritage. Classica provides a ‘modern twist’ on iconic GTs. Inedita is for the more experimental, less traditional tastes like pink with green spots.

Essentially the sky is the limit when it comes to creating your very own personalised Ferrari. Just prepare to dig deep for the privilege, as it’s quite the premium on the car itself. As the saying goes, if you have to ask…

The Ferrari California T has an eight-cylinder 3.8-litre V8 turbo (the first since the F40) that outputs 552bhp and 557lb/ft of torque. 0-62mph takes a mere 3.6 seconds.
